Leslie Shang is a photographer based in Shanghai. He was born and raised near Baoji City in Shaanxi Province, Western China. After moving to Chedun, a suburb of Shanghai, Shang began photographing vacant apartments and the people who have made these empty buildings their homes. Many of these residents are unable to afford life in Shanghai and refer to themselves as ‘the living dead’. Through his work, Shang seeks to highlight social and economic disparities in China.
