Man arrested in connection with string of break-ins in Somerville


A man has been arrested in connection with a string of break-ins in Somerville.

According to police, on Friday night around 6:35 p.m., a resident of a Cherry Street home called police to report an unknown man in their basement.

Officers located the man, identified as Fabio Armelio, 4,7, and arrested him without incident.

Police say Armelio is a person of interest in twelve recent break-ins in the Powderhouse neighborhood of Somerville where he targeted residents and Tufts University Community members since December 20, 2024.

Police said he was positively identified in three of the 12 cases with others under investigation.

Armelio also has 20 outstanding arrest warrants in multiple jurisdictions including Somerville, Tufts University, Cambridge, MIT, Lawrence, and Boston.

According to police, the crimes in these twenty warrants range from breaking and entering during day and nighttime, larceny from a building, possession of burglarious tools, receiving stolen property, assault, trespassing, and threats.

The break-ins are under investigation.

Armelio is set to be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Monday, January 6.
