Here's what closed Peddler's Village restaurants on a busy Sunday

A massive barn fire brought firefighters from across Bucks County and New Jersey to Solebury on Sunday afternoon, closing multiple major roads for hours and leaving businesses in a nearby Peddler’s Village without water on a busy fall day.

The reported four-alarm blaze in the 6200 block of Greenhill Road was the second one that kept firefighters in the New Hope-Solebury area busy Sunday.

The barn fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. resulting in the closing of Greenhill Road between Route 263 (Upper York Road) and Mechanicsville Road, Solebury Township police posted on their Crimewatch page. The road were reopened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Upper York Road was also closed between Street and Aquetong roads, and Street Road was closed between York Road and Upper York Road.

An evacuation order was issued around 2:15 p.m. but it is unknown what required evacuation.

This news organization was not immediately successful in reaching Midway Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tom Benscoter for comment Sunday evening.

On its Facebook page, Peddler’s Village reported a fire-related water shortage that led to the closure of all restaurants in the nearby shopping destination in Lahaska. The rest of the village shops remain open Sunday.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by the fire,” the Peddler’s Village post said. Peddler’s Village was a huge draw this weekend with the seasonable fall weather and some restaurants were on an estimated two-hour wait to seat patrons at times on Saturday.

On Sunday morning members of the New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Co. were conducting a training exercise when they were dispatched to a brush fire along the New Hope-Ivyland Railroad tracks near Reeder Road, according to the department’s Facebook page. That fire was also brought under control within a few hours.
