Adam Brody’s big, hot comeback has been one of the unexpected joys of 2024, with the actor appearing as the “cute rabbi” opposite Kristen Bell in Netflix hit Nobody Wants This — but, sadly for anyone who suddenly realized they never quite got over Seth Cohen, Brody is blissfully happy with wife Leighton Meester.
In an interview with British magazine Stylist published Tuesday, December 3, the O.C. alum, 44, spoke about how great his life is right now — complete with a beyond adorable festive photo shoot in which his wedding ring is extremely conspicuous.
“Despite the state of the world, I feel like I’m living my best life,” he said. “I have a beautiful, dreamy family life. I have a good work-life balance and get to spend a lot of time with my kids. I’m in that really great period of middle age where I’m old enough to have seniority and work security but also still have enough of my body to be active and do all the things I want to. I’m a lucky guy.”
The star also said that he and Gossip Girl veteran Meester, 38, love partying with friends over the holiday season. “I don’t do it a lot, but I’m a good host if I may say so myself,” he said. “It’s usually a blur because I’m running around and making sure everyone is having a good time. But if we’re going to someone else’s, I like to think I make for good conversation. My wife and I have a dynamic: I will be the one that gets us there on time, but she will be the last to leave, long after I’ve started to get antsy to head home. So between us, we’re committed. We’re not just stopping by for an hour: if you have us, you have us.”
And just when a million thirsty millennials thought he couldn’t get any more swoonworthy, the actor also said that he loves catching sight of Meester across a crowded room. “When you’re out somewhere in public, there’s something very nice about seeing the person you’re with from across the room talking to someone else,” he said. “It’s a totally different perspective and, ideally, it’s a very lovely and flattering one. In my case, it definitely is.”
The couple have been married for a decade and share two children: a daughter, 9, and son, 4.
Brody added that the success of Nobody Wants This, which has been renewed for a second season, has been “a great joy” — and we definitely agree. “It’s a thrill,” he said. “It’s this very positive, loving, life-affirming and in many ways escapist story taking place in the middle of a very tense geopolitical time. Most people, including me, are finding ways to enjoy the minute-to-minute even when things are looming pretty large.”
Brody also said that, although he’s known for playing seriously good guys, he also wouldn’t rule out playing a baddie some day. “It’s not like it’s my mandate to only play good characters,” he said. “I’m just as happy to play toxic people as long as we know they’re toxic. What I don’t want to do is the insidious thing of playing a ‘hero’ who is actually a piece of s— and reinforces negative ideals.”
To top it all off, the actor also revealed that he makes an amazing breakfast. “I’ll do an omelette or a matzah brei where I break up some matzah crackers into scrambled eggs or whip up French toast with challah bread,” he said. Meester is a lucky, lucky woman.
