Zach Bryan is cuddling up with the cat he shared with ex-girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia — after she claimed that he stole the feline friend from her “out of spite.”
Bryan, 28, took to his Instagram Story on Thursday, November 14, to share a photo of “ol stump cat” perched on his shoulder. The country singer called Stump the “best shoulder parrot around.”
Bryan’s post comes after LaPaglia, 25, claimed the musician took Stump with him as revenge after their split last month.
“I miss Stump so much. I wanna f—ing kidnap him. But when [Bryan] left and didn’t tell me anything, he took Stump out of spite,” the podcaster alleged in a Sunday, November 10, TikTok video. “He didn’t even like cats. … I love cats. Can someone steal the cat back for me?”
LaPaglia added that “one of the hardest parts” of the breakup has been the separation of their pets. The former couple previously lived together in Bryan’s Massachusetts home along with Stump, Bryan’s dog, Jack, and LaPaglia’s dog, Boston.
“I just think about Boston and Jack and Stump. I think about Stump every night,” LaPaglia said.
Us Weekly reached out to Bryan’s team for comment at the time.
LaPaglia spoke about missing Stump again on Thursday, captioning an Instagram Story selfie, “How do we get stump back.”
The exes’ kitten custody drama hasn’t been the only messy aspect of their split. After Bryan announced via Instagram last month that he and LaPaglia had “broken up with each other”, the Barstool Sports personality shared a different version of events.
“Hey guys I’m feeling really blindsided right now. Gonna hop off social media for a while and attempt to heal privately, when I’m ready I’ll be back and ready to talk,” LaPaglia wrote via her Instagram Story at the time.
Since then, LaPaglia has spilled all sorts of tea about their relationship.
“The last year of my life has been the hardest year of my life dealing with the abuse from this dude,” she said during an episode of her “BFFS” podcast earlier this month. “I’m still scared right now because I’m scared of him still. My brain’s rewired. I’m scared to make him mad.”
She went on to claim that Bryan’s team offered her a “big lump sum” of money not to speak publicly about her experiences with him. Her cohost Dave Portnoy alleged later in the episode that the offer amounted to $12 million.
“You get to go skip off and sing your little f—ing songs on stage like you’re a good dude. You get to treat people around you like s—. Sorry I’m not them, I don’t want your money,” she said, claiming that she experienced “literal narcissistic emotional abuse” throughout the entire relationship.
“He made me believe everything was my fault,” LaPaglia alleged. “He isolated me from my whole entire life.”
At one point, LaPaglia recalled a week-long fight between herself and Bryan after he heard her singing “Last Night” by Morgan Wallen in their home.
“I was not really allowed to listen to Noah Kahan,” she claimed. “I listened to him too much.”
Bryan has yet to address LaPaglia’s claims.
